Description
The Six-spot Burnet Moth (Zygaena filipendulae) is a common species throughout Britain and coastal Ireland & Scotland. The distinctive marking is a warning to predators that the insect stores hydrogen cyanide in its body cavities. This photo was taken on Inis Mór, the largest of Ireland's three Aran Islands.
